4/24/2023 0 Comments Quickfire phones![]() Honestly, the only things I really want in a phone is the keyboard for texting rather than a traditional keypad, MP3 player, and a halfway decent camera. I'm sure if my kids play with them, they'll be able to teach us things we never knew we could do with those phones. I know there are a lot of features on both phones that we'll never use, let alone understand. I think it might be able to do video too, but I can't figure that out. There's MP3, but I'm not sure that it is a player, or if that is just for the ringtones. This one has a 2G camera, which is nicer than my last phone, but aside from keeping pictures on the phone or texting them, I don't do anything with the pictures anyway. To me, it would be all or none touch screen. I love the phone, but not sure that I prefer the partial touch screen. I use the keypad or function keys more than anything. I don't know if there's more you can do with the touchscreen, because I haven't read the owner's manual enough to figure it out. ![]() The only thing I use the touch screen for is to type in phone numbers. The Neon slides to the side, which I like better. It is lighter, which I like and the quarter inch less width of the phone is perfect for my hand. It doesn't feel cheap, but it feels more like plastic next to my husband's phone. I went with the LG Neon because it looked more like the Quickfire that the kids got. It's much simpler for him to send text messages to the kids than his old phone. It moves quickly from one function to another. His slides up to reveal the keypad and is not a touchtone at all. It does feel sturdier, but I'm not sure if it is. It is about the same length and thickness as mine, but is about a quarter inch wider. The free phones were very basic, much like my old one, which I hate to text on. Well the day I went on line, they were offering a LG Neon or a Samsung Propel, which will only cost me $30. I wanted whatever "give me" or low priced phone I could get. I know so little about current technology, that I decided to copy my kids, but I wasn't eligible for a Quickfire. I updated my phone and since my kids always text me, I wanted a phone better with texting. Yeah, I think it's a good time to say no to the Quickfire. The phones were recalled and re-released and my kids phones are both having similar problems that caused the original recall. We just don't feel safe giving them another Quickfire. Of course, we insisted on a different phone. The phones are going back tomorrow and they will have new phones overnighted to them. My husband spoke to someone on the phone tonight. Then today, it started shutting off by itself. Then sometimes it changed screens on its own. I had to touch the screen several times to get it to respond. She showed me how sometimes the screen would almost freeze. She said the phone unlocks by itself, changes screens automatically when it isn't supposed to. Then my daughter brought me her phone and said, I think I'm having the same problems with the screen. The incidents he read about were similar to his. ![]() My son decided to look online to see what the reviews are on his phone.Īpparently, the Quickfires were released, and then recalled because they were having problems with the touchscreen and were a fire hazard. Well, in time the phone became very, very hot. He moved it to a different outlet and was sure the phone status said it was charging. Then yesterday he said his phone didn't charge. My son said his phone was kinda hot when he charged it. Well, the phones were part of a promotion with our cell phone company, so we were able to get these phones for them. If they don't need it, we usually don't buy it. They settle for off brand clothes and shoes most of the time. They don't get many luxuries, and are usually not the kids to have something their friends might not have. My children just got Quickfire phones four days ago. Did I miss a post about Quickfire phones? Was there a rant that I didn't see? I'm just thinking someone else must have had problems too!
